Spyder3Elite 4.0
Apart from a weird combination of numbers in the product name and the version number, this looks like an impressive update to an already impressive software package. I’ve been using the Spyder3Elite package for a while with my Apple Cinema displays and have been very happy with the results, especially when compared to those delivered by the EyeOne puck and software that came with my HP Z3100 printer.
Highlights of the 4.0 version are:
- The Monitor Quality Analyzer, which both compares your display to other models and highlights the areas of your display that are the most accurately reproducing color
- The Display Graph, which compares the gamut of your display to common color spaces and, alternatively, other display models
- Software Brightness Control and Automated Brightness Adjustment, bringing piece to owners of Cinema Display Owners like myself, saving the need to adjust brightness in accordance to the ambient light levels measured by the device manually.
Best of all: For owners of the previous generation of Spyder3Elite, the upgrade is just EUR 16 (roughly $21.50).
